Volunteer at the Book Fair!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming up December 5-9. Volunteers are needed to help students select books, restock and organize shelves, and keep things running smoothly. For every 2-hour shift worked, you will earn a $5 credit to spend at the book fair. The book fair is a great way to get books into the hands of our kids and earn money for the PTO. Proceeds provide books for each of the teachers and the school library.

Sign-up online at FLA Bookaneer Book Fair or use the paper form sent home last week.

Donations of gently used books are also needed to help stock the $1 table and can be dropped off in the donation bin outside La Plaza.

Thank you for your support!

Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Morning arrival should occur between 8:35-8:45am. For the safety of our children, ALL students being dropped off by a parent must be taken to the west side of the building in the lower staff parking lot. NO CHILD SHOULD BE DROPPED OFF ON WARWICK, AS THIS IS A BUS ZONE AND IS DANGEROUS. All drivers must enter through the West gate by driving in from Main St. to 34th St. Parents dropping off children should turn right into the parking lot, circle through, and drop off your child with the supervising staff. To exit, cars should turn right onto 34th Street. This will allow for one-way traffic and less congestion. If you wish to park and walk your student to the building, there is NO PARKING allowed in or around the lower staff parking lot. Please park in the upper lot.

Winter Weather Clothes

Please be sure your student is dressed for the cold weather. If the temperature is above 35, then students will go out to recess. Inside, it is helpful for your student to have a uniform colored sweater or sweatshirt over their uniform shirt. Some rooms are colder than others so having layers is always helpful! With the layered clothing comes the challenge of many lost items. Please put your child’s name on their belongings. We do our best to return items to students when we can identify the owner. In order to keep the lost and found under control, we will begin donating unclaimed items.

Each week in January, we will draw the names of two students with perfect attendance for the week and each will win a $50 gift card. Remember, to qualify you must have perfect attendance for the entire week meaning no late arrivals or early departures. Good luck!

This Friday’s dress down for $1 day has been changed to Red Friday. Go Chiefs!

Out of Uniform Days Explained

Dress Down for $1 Days - Most Fridays, students may wear any school appropriate clothing if they choose to pay the $1 dress down fee. This money goes to the student activity account to help pay for things such as buses for field trips or supplies for extra classroom activities. If you do not wish to pay the $1, you may wear your uniform to school on Fridays.

Panther Pride Days - On the first day of each month, those students who did not receive a written discipline referral, that means a BIF or a Conduct Card, in the previous month may come to wearing school colors - red, black and silver or gray. It is not a free dress day, but a school colors day. Save your pink, purples oranges and greens for free dress day!

Spirit Days - On the last Friday of each month we have a Spirit Day. On these days, there is no charge to come out of uniform. There is a monthly theme for dressing down. These days are meant to be fun for students and provide relief from the daily uniform requirements.
