There are many ways parents can help at Foreign Language Academy. Below is a list of some of the opportunities available.
Room Parents - Help coordinate the parents in your child's classroom to put together seasonal parties - Fall, Winter, and Friendship. You will send home a letter (see sample) asking parents if they can help with a donation of food, drink, or party supplies, and to ask if the parent can attend and help during the party. Many parents and teachers also work together to plan games, crafts or other activities during the party.
Fall Carnival - Many parents are needed to work a shift at one of the games or stations during the carnival.
Book Fair - Many parents are needed to work a shift during the week long book fairs. These are fundraisers for the school and a great way to get books into the homes of our students.
Special Events - Help set up and organize events like the Black History Program, World Culture Celebration, and Field Day.
Volunteer in the classroom or in the office - Parents who wish to volunteer in the building, outside of our seasonal parties, must complete the volunteer application process through KCPS, and have a background check. Once you are approved, you may coordinate with your child's teacher or the office to come and volunteer when it is convenient for the teacher and you.
